Work problem:

[TW: Talk of Queer Pejoratives / Slurs]

So I got a job at a video game store a few weeks ago, and noticed that more than a couple regulars use language that I’m super uncomfortable with.

Things like, “That’s so gay!” etcetcetc I know how to deal with, that’s cool, but I’ve honestly never been put in to a situation where someone’s flippantly used faggot or dyke before. Never. It’s confirmed with my manager that if someone’s using language that I’m uncomfortable with I have to give them 3 warnings before kicking them out, but I have no idea how to give warnings for this kind of thing.

My initial reaction is honestly, like, abject fear. And then when I realize, “Well, no, I’m not actually getting queer-bashed.” it’s just anger. Anger won’t really help me here.

So does anyone have suggestions as to what I can give to customers as warnings when they say crap like that?
