I just wanted to say that I love that you posted this! I hate some of their (CBS) policies but the bottom line is that I will chose to potentially save someone’s life. A friends son who is 7 has waited for bone marrow for 2 years, still no match.

Well I’ll be in the system in a few weeks and I’ll be eligable to donate in March (thanks to the CBS policy saying that you have to wait 6 months after getting a piercing) so hopefully I’m his match.

I almost wrote in the “Anything Else?” box that I had a sexual experience with a gay male or something in the last six months, but in the end the idea that I could potentially save someone’s life (I’m AB-, the most difficult type to find marrow matches for) outweighed my want to make a statement. That’s the one policy they uphold with such stringency that I’ll never understand, especially since everyone who donates marrow is tested for HIV/AIDS when they register and before they donate.
