Arashi no Shukudai-kun 2007.01.22
This is what happens when you ask Arashi to measure the speed of common things… like slaps to the face.
Things that are amazing about this clip:
- The way Ohno’s hands are tucked behind his back
- The way Jun plants his feet to brace for the hit
- Nino pushing Jun forward—”You try, Matsumoto-san!”
- Aiba sliding in to grab Ohno’s arms
- Sho checking that Jun’s rings are off
- The way Jun bows to Ohno
- How quickly he gets into character
- That he stumbles back with the force of it
- That he immediately dives after Ohno to make sure he’s okay
- “I’m sorry! I won’t touch her again!”
- Aiba petting Ohno and telling him he’s all right
Basically: it’s perfect.
It’s not a trick. I simply observed.
This scene, you guys. This fucking scene. And then in the third panel, where he can’t even meet Sebastian’s eyes? Yeah. Heartbreaking, and it’s only two seconds long.
He really looks completely despondent in the second one. Like he never wanted to acknowledge that everyone hated him, but somewhere in him he knew it, it just wasn’t confirmed until Sebastian said it.
I don’t want to do a big write-up on my life’s story, but this moment. That phrase. His face. This is my life in a nutshell.
10:15
My commute is 1.75 hours to work, and 2 hours from work today.
Darn you ETS.
Darn you to heck.
You kinda really suck.

I am totally about to extrapolate from that tag, because this moment here. It is perfect.
We don’t know it at the time, but Castiel is having this conversation while holding off the Leviathans. The scariest motherfuckers on the planet. And he makes sure that Dean knows. Because Dean brushes it off. He’s like, “yeah, sure, do what you have to.”
But Cas won’t let him brush it off. He knows Dean. He knows that Dean doesn’t believe him in that moment. So he stops him. He tells him, “I mean it.” He damn well makes sure that Dean knows he’s going to make up for everything.
And Dean Winchester actually fucking gets it. He says, “Okay” and understands that Cas is telling him the truth. And that is such a gigantic leap for Dean. Because once you break Dean’s trust, it isn’t easy to get back. Not even for his family. But this right here? This is Dean saying more than “Okay, I get that you’re serious.”
This is Dean saying, “Okay, I’ll let you make up for it.”
This ship, you guys.
This. Ship.
